Higher Education Fairs
Program Highlights2010 College Fair During October, representatives from approximately twenty five colleges and universities from the United States and Jamaica conducted fairs in Kingston and Montego Bay. Approximately 2,000 students and their parents received valuable information about college in the U.S. and the specific institutions in attendance. A senior Consular Officer was also on hand to present to guidance counselors, teachers and several students on the student visa process. The EducationUSA Center located inside the U.S. Embassy in Kingston organizes this fair each fall as part of the Caribbean College Fair Tour: www.educationusa.info/conferences/fairs/caribbean. Long Island University Visits Jamaica The EducationUSA Center had the pleasure of hosting its first U.S. college since moving into the new Embassy compound in Kingston. Mardi Klein, Director of International Admissions at Long Island University, met with approximately 30 students and parents to discuss higher education in the U.S. and opportunities for Jamaican students at the university. EducationUSA also organized visits to several schools outside of the capital city where many parents and potential students were enthused to meet a representative from a university with a large Jamaican community.
