Program Highlights

Expansion of the EducationUSA Advising Outreach program outside of Guatemala City

The objective was to reach and inform a larger audience outside of the Capital City about study opportunities in the USA.
The program was carried out in August 2009, and the Senior Adviser visited 5 schools and 2 universities.
A power point presentation was presented, which included topics related to the admission process: university types, exams, student visas, and scholarships. During the presentations, the Senior Adviser distributed magazines, office brochures, information sheets on youth exchange programs and scholarships, and pencils including our contact information.
At the end, cards requesting contact data and school information were distributed since this is the way to collect the student's information for our data base.

SEGEPLAN Scholarship Fair

The EducationUSA Advising Center joined the U.S. Embassy in a Scholarship Fair hosted by a governmental organization known as SEGEPLAN (Secretaria de Planificación y Programación de la Presidencia). The fair was held on September 3-5, 2009 and 4,000 visitors attended, from the city and rural parts of our country.
We provided information on our advising center and scholarship opportunities available in the United States, particularly mentioning the Fulbright Scholarships.
This annual fair brings together representatives of foreign Embassies represented in our country that offer scholarships, Guatemalan universities, and other international education agencies.
