U.S. Government Exchange Programs for Russians

Local Funding Opportunities for Students from Russia

EducationUSA is a global network of more than 400 advising centers supported by the U.S. Department of State Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs. EducationUSA advising centers actively promote U.S. higher education around the world by offering accurate, comprehensive and current information about educational institutions in the United States and guidance to qualified individuals on how best to access those opportunities. Millions of prospective students learn about U.S. study opportunities through EducationUSA centers each year. Centers are staffed by professional advisers who adhere to ethical standards established by the U.S. Department of State, and many of whom have first-hand experience studying in the United States themselves, and/or have received State Department-approved training about U.S. higher education and the advising process.

Public Affairs of the U.S. Embassy in Russia works to foster mutual understanding between the United States and Russia through international educational and training exchange programs. These programs in turn promote personal, professional, and institutional ties between private citizens and organizations in the United States and abroad. In addition to bringing U.S. scholars and researchers to Russia, the U.S. Department of State sends Russian students, educators and professional to the United States every year on a variety of programs.

Operating in over 60 countries, American Councils for International Education is a leading not-for-profit organization focused on academic exchange, professional training, distance learning, research, curriculum and test development, and evaluation. Its mission is to help build a world of globally competent citizens, successful institutions, and responsible nations. American Councils has been working in Russia since 1974 and worked closely with the U.S. Department of State's Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs on language learning, cultural exchange programs, and alumni development. In 2011, over 500 Americans came to Russia on American Councils administered programs while over 1,000 Russians traveled to the U.S.
