Center Description: The EducationUSA Center in Alexandria is based at AMIDEAST, a private, nonprofit organization that strengthens mutual understanding and cooperation between Americans and the peoples of the Middle East and North Africa.

The EducationUSA advising Center provides numerous educational services, including free introductory public information sessions on various aspects of U.S. education, individual consultations on U.S. study, and application support services.

Program Highlights

Annual College Fair

The American College Fair is always a success in Alexandria. The Alexandria StudyUSA Fair was held on October 15 at AMIDEAST premises in Roshdy. The quality of student turnout was very rewarding for all AMIDEAST staff and the American Center Alexandria. We received positive feedback from the fair participants. The ratio of undergraduate students has increased from the previous years due to the extensive promotion to all high schools. The fair was a very high profile event with good attendance. It received considerable attention from academic community in Alexandria.


Outreach programs

Outreach is a priority at the advising offices in Alexandria and is done in partnership with the U.S. Embassy. A variety of activities have been carried out to inform large numbers of students and professionals about U.S. educational opportunities. Presentations are routinely made to local institutions, NGOs and also in more distant and underserved areas all over Egypt to encourage diversity on US campuses and reach marginalized populations.


Specialized advising sessions in Medical, Pharmacy, Dental, Law, Engineering, Business fields of study in the U.S.

We offer specialized advising sessions in Medical, Pharmacy, Dental, Law, Engineering, Business fields of study in the U.S. to accommodate all students inquiries in different fields.


Competitive College Club (CCC)

CCC is for students needing guidance in the admissions process for highly selective US universities that will meet each student's academic and financial need. This club is open to any high school student in grades 10 and 11 residing in Alexandria and who has an average of at least 92% in school. Meetings cover test taking strategies, reading assignments, writing workshops, applications guidance, cultural exchange, community service activities and more!


Opportunity Grants (OG)

The U.S. Department of State Opportunity Grant is designed to support the application process to US higher education institutions for students who are highly qualified but are unable to cover the expenses of applying. The initiative provides funds to cover the costs faced by talented but financially disadvantaged Egyptian students who are not eligible for or funded by other U.S. Government-sponsored exchange programs.

Other Information: AMIDEAST Alexandria will hold the annual StudyUSA Education Fair on Saturday, October 15, 2011 from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm at the 15, Abdel Hamid El Abbady, Roushdy, Alexandria.
All high schools students, school principals, university professors, college students and parents are welcome to attend this free event, and prior registration is not required. Join us to learn more about American universities from on-site representatives, and meet Public Affairs Section from the U.S. Embassy representatives who will be available to discuss student exchange programs in the United States.
