Program Highlights

Establishing EducationUSA Collaboration

Over the last year, Embassy Suva has engaged the Fiji Ministry of Education in efforts to create greater awareness among secondary school teachers and students of the Education USA brand by participating at the various Career Expositions hosted by the Ministry.

The Embassy also has a mailing list which includes educators, parents, students and contacts of the Public Diplomacy Section that it uses for disseminating Education USA weekly updates and any other college/university related development.

Student Careers Exposition, Savusavu, Vanua Levu, Fiji

General briefing for students and teachers on undergraduate and graduate programs offered in the US; value of the English Teaching Forum; EdUSA network/website; scholarships and fellowships offered by the US Government versus those offered by private institutions; admissions process for colleges and universities. Over 700 students and over 30 teachers attended the 14 half hour sessions conducted that day (7 April 2011).

Student Careers Exposition, Ba, Viti Levu, Fiji

Dissemination of educational resources and academic advising targeting students and teachers in the Ba and Tavua educational districts. Over 1200 students and over 60 teachers attended this event that was held on May 26, 2011.
