Center Description: The American Corner program is sponsored worldwide by the U.S. Department of State. American Corner Tetovo is a partnership between the NGO "Aurora", The House of Culture, the Municipality of Tetovo and the U.S. Embassy in Skopje. The purpose of the Corners is to provide free information to the general public about the United States through books, magazines, CD-ROMs, and complimentary access to the Internet. The Corner also hosts a wide variety of events: such as cultural programs and guest lectures from U.S. Embassy Officials, Fulbright Scholars, US Alumni, also Video Showings, Clubs and many other activities.

Higher Education Fairs
Program HighlightsStudy in the USA Presentation A student from Tetovo who is now enrolled in doctorate program at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill gave a presentation at ACT about U.S. higher education. Mr. Ceka, who also studied at Bates College in Lewiston, Maine, held a presentation about the application process to U.S. universities. During his presentation, he showed photos of U.S. campus life and talked about academic excellence, financial aid, and the liberal arts curriculum. He shared tips for being successful in the interview process and spoke about how applications are evaluated in the admissions office. Presentations in Tetovo/Gostivar American Corner Tetovo Staff, accompanied by U.S. Embassy Cultural Attache John Surface, visited South East European University in Tetovo and Technical High School in Gostivar. The Attaché spoke to a wide audience of high school and university students, English Language lecturers, university academic staff and others, including students of Macedonian, Albanian, and Turkish ethnic background. In total, over 200 people attended these events and learned about educational exchange opportunities offered by the U.S. Embassy in Skopje and the new EducationUSA center at ACT. Upcoming Events
