Education and Careeir Fair 2012

From February 21 to 23, the Educational Advising Center participated in the Education Abroad Fair in Tashkent. On behalf of the U.S. Embassy, Yeager Marcelle welcomed students, participants and organizers to the seventh international fair "Education and Career 2012". And she also remarked: “For the past three years, our Center has participated in this unique fair that welcomes universities from around the world. It is a great opportunity for students to learn about possibilities for studying abroad. American universities would love to have more students from Uzbekistan and I encourage you to explore these programs. Finally, I’d like to thank the fair organizers for inviting us and letting us share information about opportunities for studying in the United States.”
During the presentation EAC advisor, Sharifa Djurabaeva, and 5 Muskie Alumni students, 2 EAC visitors and 5 College Club students met more than 20000 students who were interested in studying in the U.S. New people, more than 280, who were not aware of EAC services signed up for e-mail distribution list.

Westfield State University in Uzbekistan

On February 22, EAC hosted Westfield State University International Students Advisor, Vera Vlasenko to the presentation about her university. Greta Gromovich, CAO, opened the presentation by introducing guest speaker from to students.

Vera talked about the history of the university, admission process, the ways of reducing the cost of attendance, and answered students’ questions.

Sharifa Djurabaeva also provided supporting details and web sources for students to apply to the university.

20 College Club students at Babur Park in Tashkent

On March 31, EAC advisor Sharifa Djurabaeva organized American Games for more than 20 College Club students at Babur Park in Tashkent. Guests of the event were CAO Greta Gromovich and five other Americans from the Political Section of the U.S. Embassy and USAID.

While students were playing games, they learned new words, phrases and idioms and enjoyed conversation with native speakers.
