Center Description: EducationUSA Monrovia center is opened to the public Mondays through Thursday from 9:00am - 5:00pm. Group Advising is Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10:00am to 12:00noon and one-on-one advising (by appointments only) are on the same days from 3:00pm - 4:00pm.

Program Highlights

EducationUSA Advising Workshop (Kakata American Corner)

EducationUSA Monrovia hosted a one day Advising workshop at one of four American Corners on September 14, 2010. The workshop, designed to inform high school students about the opportunities and requirements to study in the US brought together about 100 high school students and administrators from six high schools and one technical school outside the capital.

The EducationUSA Advisor shared information about the U.S. college application process as well as financial aid and scholarships that are available to international students. During the workshop a Liberian undergraduate student currently studing at Dartmouth College talked about his experience. At the end of the workshop, students were given a "How to” guide on the U.S. college application process.


EducationUSA Advising Workshop (Information Resourc Center/American Library)

EducationUSA Monrovia hosted a one day Advising workshop at the Information Resource Center (IRC), American Library on September 17, 2010.
The workshop, designed to inform high school students about the opportunities and requirements to study in the US, was the second of a two part workshop that brought together students from 19 high schools and 3 universities.

The EducationUSA Advisor shared information about the U.S. college application process as well as financial aid and scholarships that are available to international students. During the workshop a Liberian undergraduate student currently studing at Dartmouth College talked about his experience. A video Skype call was held with the Assistant Director of Admission at Dartmouth College and an African student entering Dartmouth this fall. We also had a Liberian who recently graducated from the African Leadership Academy talk about his experience. Students were given a "How to” guide on the U.S. college application process.


American Library Speakers Series: Back to School

Ricks Institute American Corner hosted an American Library Speakers Series on October 19, 2010. The Theme for the month of October was "Back To School." The Monrovia EducationUSA Advisor served as guest speaker, speaking to students, administrators and parents about going to school in the US.
