Joint presentation of EducationUSA and DAAD at Kharkiv Polytechnic Institute
On April 21, 2010 the Student Self-Governing Body of Kharkiv Polytechnic Institute held an information session on international academic opportunities. The EducationUSA Adviser and DAAD Lecturer in Kharkiv were invited guest speakers. Ms. Nataliya Bulgakova, EducationUSA Adviser from "Osvita" Advising Center, presented about annual academic exchange programs sponsored by the US Department of State as well as Opportunity Grants, and described the application process to American universities. Students had a lively discussions about "hot topics" such as choosing a university, admissions tests, and financial aid. DAAD Lecturer Mr Martin Reuter explained how students interested for further study in Germany can apply for DAAD scholarships.
EducationUSA Advising Centers and US Government-sponsored academic exchanges
On April 28, 2010, Ms. Nataliya Bulgakova, EducationUSA Adviser, gave a presentation about Kharkiv "Osvita" Educational Advising Center and US Government-sponsored academic exchange programs at the Kharkiv Aviation Institute for students from the Department of Humanities. Student were primarily interested in why the US Government puts so much effort into support of international students coming to study in American universities, how many times students can apply to academic exchange programs, qualification requiremets and entrance exams for those who want to continue their study in the USA at the graduate level. Among 47 students attending the presentation, there were a several FLEX alumni who added their comments to the Adviser's explanations, thus making the discussion live and informal.
