Center Description: The Karachi EducationUSA center covers the whole province of Sindh, and has almost 5000-registered advisees (the number is increasing by 2% every month). Karachi center provides academic advising for prospective undergraduate, graduate and PhD students. In addition, the Center administers a number of exams ranging from SAT, Toefl, GRE to USMLE, PMI etc., and IT exams like Microsoft, Juniper, IBM, Tera-Data and many more IT certifications.

Program Highlights

F-1 Visa Seminar

USEFP advising Karachi conducted an F-1 Visa Seminar on Friday, April 22nd, 2011. The seminar was organized to help students get through the F-1 visa application and interview process successfully.


Rolling Admission Seminar

On 04/15/2011, USEFP Karachi organized a presentation specifically for students who are considering taking admission in a graduate program for spring 2012 semester.


Workshop for Students and Counselors: How to Write a Winning College Essay (Conducted across various schools and our USEFP office)

We conducted a workshop for both students and counselors in our office as well as at local schools and trained them on how to write a winning college essay. We created a tremendous amount of buzz across campuses and have been invited to revisit classrooms to go over the same material with additional students. We have reached approximately 140 students through this workshop.


The EducationUSA South Asia Tour 2011: PAKISTAN

DVC Counselors’ session, Thursday 24th March, 2011, 10 A.M to 11:00 A.M at USEFP KHI

Excitement drew 24 counselors to sign up for the event but due to poor law and order situation, the turnout was low. The session began with the introduction of the USEFP staff, followed by the US Universities Representatives. The low turnout proved to be a blessing for the counselors as they were able to get all their queries answered.


Outreach at Dawood College of Engineering and Technology

USEFP Karachi was invited by Shahab Afroz, Chairman Industrial Engineering and Management to conduct a presentation on USEFP services, U.S. Education and the Fulbright Scholarship program. The program started with an introduction about USEFP and its services. Adviser, Faraz Naqvi spoke comprehensively about graduate admission process including college search and the basic requirements for getting into U.S universities. This was followed by a brief informational session on the Fulbright scholarship program.


Education Fair

The City School, Gulshan A Level, invited USEFP, to participate in 'Education Fair” at its campus. Schools, Universities and Colleges all around Karachi were invited to set up information desks.
Faraz Naqvi, Academic adviser Karachi, represented USEFP.

Over 300 students, parents and teachers visited USEFP with inquisition and desperation about higher education opportunities in the US.

Teachers were also informed about the Fulbright scholarship. On behalf of The City School, Maria Ahmed, Academic and Career Counselor, complimented USEFP on its participation and intimated that she looks forward to more student sessions with USEFP’s collaboration.


Dawn Education Expo 2011

This was the 8th year of this event and the exhibition assembled many leading commercial and non-commercial educational counseling organizations, international universities, colleges and higher education institutions from Pakistan and across the globe, covering USA, Australia, Singapore, UK, and Canada to interact with the students on one to one basis. It provided an excellent opportunity to promote USEFP services on a very large scale. Approximately 8865 people visited USEFP booth, amongst them were students, scholars, teachers, parents and professionals, all an educated mass, eager to inquire about the opportunities available for Pakistani students to study in the US.


Outreach at Beaconhouse PECHS Campus

Academic advisor Karachi office visited Beaconhouse PECHS Campus for undergraduate and essay writing presentation. The program began with an introduction about USEFP website and services. The presentation began with the general undergraduate admission requirements and the application process step-by-step, followed by a detailed undergraduate presentation. Students were informed about the difference between the community colleges and universities. Why community college is a good option? How one can improve his chances of getting in to an Ivy League school?


Visit to Mehran University of Engineering and Technology (MUET), Jamshoro

USEFP Advising Karachi received an invitation from MUET, Jamshoro to attend the 13th Convocation, being held on 24 January 2011. It was considered a good opportunity to network with university officials, faculty and students to advertise the USEFP services.


Q & A session with Saeeda Wali Muhammad

Saeeda Wali Mohammed, Director of Internationalization Services, Suffolk University conducted a Q & A session to inform students about the University programs and campus facilities and the opportunities for Pakistani students at Suffolk University
