| New Advisers join EducationUSA in Moscow and St. Petersburg Date: Monday, October 10th, 2011
Russia's EducationUSA advising team welcomes Elena Konkina to the Moscow advising center, and Oksana Levadnaya and Irina Nikolaeva to the St. Petersburg advising center. All three come to EducationUSA with extensive experience in the education field and have first-hand study experience at U.S. universities. Konkina holds a Master's degree in Adult and Technical Education from Marshall University. As part of the Russian Language Scholar program, Levadnaya taught Russian and took classes at Reed College. Nikolaeva studied American children’s literature at the University of Kansas as a Fulbright Fellow. Their addition brings the total number of Russia's EducationUSA team to 14 advisers. |

| EducationUSA Student Ambassadors Start Outreach Across Russia Date: Monday, October 10th, 2011
EducationUSA Student Ambassadors began their outreach across Russia in September, giving presentations on the application process to U.S. universities in Arkhangelsk, Gorno-Altaisk, Ufa, Novokuznetsk, Syktyvkar, Blagoveshchensk and Birobidzhan. The EducationUSA Student Ambassadors program specifically targets regions of Russia where there is not an EducationUSA advising center. |

| Virtual Student Foreign Service eInterns Join EducationUSA Russia Date: Monday, October 10th, 2011
Two Virtual Student Foreign Service eInterns, from the University of Indiana and the University of Maryland at College Park, will be contributing to advising efforts in Russia by creating multimedia blog posts, assisting with social media outreach, providing feedback on writing samples, and conducting live chat sessions with students. Based on questions received through vkontakte and Facebook, the eInterns will also be conducting interviews with current Russian students on their campuses to provide tips and advice to those just starting the application process. |

| EducationUSA at Novosibirsk's International Education Day (Russia) Date: Saturday, March 19th, 2011
Novosibirsk’s annual International Education Day included a U.S. university representative for the first time this year. | EducationUSA Vladivostok (Russia) promotes U.S. study opportunities for the blind Date: Tuesday, March 15th, 2011
EducationUSA Adviser Elena Vereykina met with administrators at the Vladivostok Library for the Blind to discuss avenues for blind and vision impaired students to study in the U.S., including computer adaptive language-learning technologies and other potential methods for preparing for the TOEFL and other language exams. This effort coincides with the U.S. Embassy English Language Office’s efforts to strengthen language pedagogy in disabled communities throughout Russia. |

| ReConnect: SUNY Plattsburgh visits Russia Date: Monday, March 7th, 2011
Jackie Vogl, Assistant Vice President for International Enrollment Management at SUNY Plattsburgh, visited Moscow, Novosibirsk, and Vladimir as part of the U.S. State Department ReConnect program this month. The program provides funding for U.S. universities who have hosted visiting EducationUSA advisers to send a representative to EducationUSA centers abroad. Jackie’s visit brought her to 8 schools, 3 universities, 3 EducationUSA centers, and 2 American Corners over the course of 10 days. Jackie met with over 400 students, four EducationUSA advisers and several school and university administrators. She talked not only about her institution, but about the liberal arts model, life on a U.S. campus, and the structure of higher education in the U.S. |

| United States, Russia Build Ties Through University Partnerships Date: Tuesday, November 30th, 2010
Despite the global economic downturn, the U.S. continues to be a preferred destination for Russian students. For the past decade, an average of 5,000 Russians each year have chosen to pursue their undergraduate or graduate study in America. In 2009–2010, the number of Russians studying in the United States declined slightly, reflecting a drop in the Russian birthrate, but the overall numbers have remained fairly stable. |
