Program Highlights

Educational Exchange Programs

In honor of International Education Week, an opportunity to celebrate the benefits of international education and exchange worldwide, The American Corner Bitola hosted the presentation “Educational Exchange Programs” by Gazmend Ilazi, Educational Affairs Assistant from the US Embassy Skopje. Mr. Ilazi discussed the opportunities available to Macedonian students and professionals through programs such as Fulbright, Hubert Humphrey and many more. The 30 participants also meet and heard first hand Fulbright experiences from two visiting US Fulbrighters in Bitola, Prof. George Mitresvski and Sam Benshoof. Several questions were answered and materials were available on higher education in the US.

Skype Talk with Wesleyan College Admission Officer

For international students interested in studying in the U.S. and getting ready to begin the admissions processes, there are many things that they need to learn beforehand. But to have the chance to talk to a U.S. Admission Officer and learn as much as they can about the application process first hand, turned out to be a great experience for the students present at the Skype Talk with the Wesleyan College Director of Admission Danielle Lodge at the American Corner in Bitola.
In the one hour discussion, Ms. Lodge provided a specialized advice and tips connected to the process of applying for undergraduate and graduate studies in the USA. Throughout the conversation, Ms. Lodge successfully guided the students through the process of getting a good recommendation letter from the professors (rarely used in Macedonia and the students have problems getting them from their professors), the importance of participating in extracurricular activities and volunteering and eventually, the process of the essay writing, which, according to Ms. Lodge is one of the most important parts of the whole application process. Danielle also gave details about the application process for graduate studies, the importance of the GMAT and TOEFL scores and the different scholarship opportunities. All of the participants were reminded of the great resources that the American Educational Center in Bitola offers for encouraging studying in the USA.

Public Affairs Officer Angela Aggeler’s visit to the Faculty of Education Bitola

This great event was held at the Faculty of Education in Bitola on December 15th. PAO Angela Aggeler started an interesting and interactive presentation for Studying in the USA explaining the great opportunities offered by the US Universities for international students. The types of institution, how the educational system in the USA works, the range of scholarships offered, college major choosing, and much more, was all explained by the PAO Angela Aggeler. Over 40 students attended the event “Study in the US” and it was a special opportunity for them to hear and learn what more than 3000 Universities in the USA offer.
After this extraordinary presentation, another presentation by the AC Bitola Coordinator and EdUSA Adviser Biljana Kuzmanovska followed. During this second presentation Ms. Kuzmanovska explained what the American Educational Center Bitola has to offer for local university students and how it can help them in their search for finding the best U.S. university for them.
