During the seventh annual International Education Week in Georgia (November 16-20, 2010), Akhaltsikhe CIE promoted the benefits of an American education for Georgian students. Professors, high-school teachers, educators, professionals and parents all participated in special
events that were held at Akhaltsikhe CIE office. EducationUSA adviser Tinatin Vardidze presented on "Undergraduate Study in the U.S." at the Akhaltsikhe CIE.

During IEW, the CIE in Akhaltsikhe was visited by graduate, undergraduate and PhD students. EducationUSA Adviser Tinatin Vardidze presented American educational system to interested students.

Outreach and presentations

Tinatina Vardidze made the first outreach presentation in the nearby area, in Akhaltsikhe at University building on the 16th of November. 36 students attended the presentation. They were from different faculties, but the majority of them were students of English course.
The presentation she gave was about the EducationUSA scholarship and fellowship opportunities. The presentation included in-depth overview of the US Education System of University levels; information on how to choose an appropriate university; how to start the application process; what is the application timeline. Students were given explanation of the application process, step-by-step instructions for successfully preparing for and applying to the USA Universities.

Presentation at American Corner

On the 19th of November EducationUSA Adviser Tinatin Vardidze visited American Corner in Akhaltsikhe, Where she presented the topic “How to write a good statement of purpose”.
The presentation was productive as the visitors were mainly from the far away regions of Akhaltsikhe. They were thankful as they got the idea how to write a good statement of purpose. Tinatin had already visited their villages during IEW and they knew much about the Akhaltsikhe CIE activities throughout the town.

Undergraduate student at BFTF

He was accepted at Benjamin Franklin Transatlantic Fellowship Summer Institute from July 3-30.2010; Mr. Maisuradze has given full financial aid for his studies at BFTF. Giorgi has gone through all the stages of the long application process with an EducationUSA adviser; he regularly attended weekly lectures on different topics. He also attended International Education Week, EducationUSA Fair. He also actively used CIE library. Giorgi will be the first Georgian student from Akhaltsikhe region who applied and got admitted at BFTF with the help of EducationUSA advisers. We are sure that Giorgi Maisuradze will greatly contribute to Georgian community by applying the knowledge and experience gained at Benjamin Franklin Transatlantic Fellowship Summer Institute to his home country.
